Description

Delight your loved ones with these Valentine's Blondies, rich and buttery bars studded with white and semi-sweet chocolate chips. Baked to golden perfection and topped with creamy Nutella and colorful sprinkles, these blondies bring a festive and indulgent treat perfect for celebrating Valentine's Day or any special occasion.

Ingredients

Dry Ingredients

  • 1 1/2 cups all purpose flour (180g)
  • 1 tsp baking powder
  • 1/2 tsp salt

Wet Ingredients

  • 3/4 cup unsalted butter, melted and cooled (170g)
  • 1 1/2 cups light brown sugar (295g)
  • 2 large eggs, at room temperature and lightly beaten
  • 3 tsp vanilla extract

Add-ins and Toppings

  • 1/2 cup white chocolate chips (85g)
  • 1/2 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips (8g)
  • Nutella (for spreading on top)
  • Colorful sprinkles (optional)

Instructions

  1. Preheat and Prepare Pan: Preheat your oven to 350°F (180°C). Lightly grease a 13x9 inch baking pan and line it with parchment paper, leaving an overhang on the sides to easily lift the blondies out once they are cooled.
  2. Mix Dry Ingredients: In a medium bowl, whisk together the all-purpose flour, baking powder, and salt. Set this mixture aside.
  3. Combine Wet Ingredients: In another medium bowl, whisk the melted and cooled unsalted butter with the light brown sugar until well combined. Add in the two lightly beaten eggs and vanilla extract, mixing thoroughly to create a smooth batter.
  4. Fold Ingredients: Using a spatula, gently fold the dry ingredient mixture into the wet ingredients until just combined to avoid overmixing. Next, fold in both the white chocolate chips and semi-sweet chocolate chips evenly throughout the batter.
  5. Bake: Pour the batter into the prepared pan and smooth the top. Bake in the preheated oven for 22 to 25 minutes, or until the top is shiny, cracked, and a light golden brown. Use a toothpick inserted in the center to check doneness; it should come out clean. Avoid overbaking to keep the blondies moist.
  6. Cool and Decorate: Allow the blondies to cool completely in the pan. Once cool, use a heart-shaped cookie cutter to cut out individual shapes. Lightly spread Nutella over each blondie and sprinkle with colorful sprinkles if desired. Serve and enjoy your festive treats!

Notes

  • Ensure the butter is melted and cooled before mixing to avoid cooking the eggs prematurely.
  • Do not overmix the batter after combining wet and dry ingredients to maintain a tender texture.
  • Watch the baking time carefully; blondies can dry out if overbaked.
  • Allow the blondies to cool completely before cutting and decorating for the best presentation and texture.
  • Use parchment paper with an overhang for easy removal from the pan.
  • Heart-shaped cookie cutters add a special Valentine's Day touch but can be omitted or substituted with any shape.
