Ingredients
Main Ingredients
- 1 1/2 pounds lean ground turkey
- 3/4 cup dry stuffing mix (such as Stove Top)
- 1/2 cup milk
- 1/4 cup powdered Parmesan cheese
- 1 small onion, finely diced
- 1 small green bell pepper, finely diced
- 1 large egg
- 2 teaspoons salt
- 2 teaspoons garlic powder
- 1 teaspoon ground black pepper
Glaze
- 1/2 cup ketchup
- 1/4 cup brown sugar
- 1 tablespoon mustard
- 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
Optional
- 2 slices bread (for placing under the meatloaf)
Instructions
- Preheat the oven: Set your oven to 350°F (175°C) allowing it to reach the proper temperature for baking the meatloaf evenly.
- Mix the meatloaf ingredients: In a large bowl, combine the lean ground turkey, dry stuffing mix, milk, powdered Parmesan cheese, finely diced onion and green bell pepper, one large egg, salt, garlic powder, and ground black pepper. Use your hands to thoroughly mix all ingredients until well incorporated.
- Prepare the baking sheet: Place two slices of bread on the bottom of a baking sheet; this helps absorb moisture and adds a slight foundation for the meatloaf.
- Shape the meatloaf: Spoon the mixture on top of the bread slices and shape it into a loaf form, ensuring the loaf is compact but not overly dense.
- Bake the meatloaf (first phase): Place the baking sheet in the oven and bake the meatloaf for 30 minutes to start cooking it through.
- Prepare and apply the glaze: While the meatloaf bakes, stir together ketchup, brown sugar, mustard, and Worcestershire sauce in a small bowl to create a flavorful glaze. After the initial 30 minutes of baking, remove the meatloaf from the oven and spoon the glaze evenly over the top.
- Finish baking: Return the meatloaf to the oven and bake for an additional 30 minutes or until the internal temperature reaches 165°F (74°C) and the loaf is cooked through.
- Rest and serve: Remove the meatloaf from the oven and let it sit for 5 minutes to allow juices to redistribute. Slice the meatloaf, removing the bread from each slice before serving for a cleaner presentation.
