Description

These Tahini Swirl Brownies offer a rich, fudgy chocolate experience with a unique nutty twist from creamy tahini swirled on top. Perfectly moist and decadent, they are easy to prepare and baked to perfection in under 35 minutes.

Ingredients

Brownie Batter

  • 4 tablespoons unsalted butter
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/4 cup + 2 tablespoons unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon fine sea salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 large egg
  • 1/4 cup all-purpose flour

Tahini Swirl

  • 2 tablespoons pure tahini

Instructions

  1. Preheat Oven: Set your oven temperature to 325°F (163°C) and position an oven rack in the lower third to ensure even baking.
  2. Prepare Baking Pan: Line a 9"x5"x3" loaf pan with parchment paper, leaving an overhang on the sides for easy removal of the brownies after baking.
  3. Combine Butter, Sugar, and Cocoa: Dice the butter into 8 pieces and place in a microwave-safe bowl. Sprinkle the granulated sugar and unsweetened cocoa powder on top evenly.
  4. Melt Ingredients: Microwave the mixture on high for 30 seconds, then stir. Return to microwave for another 30 seconds to fully melt and combine the ingredients.
  5. Add Flavorings and Egg: Carefully remove the hot bowl from the microwave. Stir in the fine sea salt and vanilla extract. Allow the mixture to cool for a few minutes, then vigorously stir in the egg until fully incorporated about 20 strokes.
  6. Incorporate Flour: Add the all-purpose flour to the batter and stir vigorously for 40 strokes, which helps to incorporate air and develop the perfect fudgy texture.
  7. Transfer Batter and Add Tahini: Scrape the batter into the prepared loaf pan and level the surface. Spoon the tahini over the top and use a knife or toothpick to swirl it artistically into the brownie batter.
  8. Bake the Brownies: Place the loaf pan on the lower oven rack and bake for 20-25 minutes. Use a toothpick test starting at 20 minutes; it should come out with moist crumbs attached but no wet batter.
  9. Cool and Serve: Allow the brownies to cool slightly in the pan, then lift them out using the parchment overhang. Cool completely on a wire rack before slicing and serving.

Notes

  • Use unsalted butter to control the salt content precisely in the brownies.
  • Microwave times may vary; adjust accordingly to fully melt butter without overheating.
  • The swirling of tahini adds a delicious nutty flavor and unique texture contrast.
  • For best results, cool brownies completely before cutting to maintain clean slices.
  • This recipe uses a loaf pan; you can use a similar size square pan but adjust baking time slightly.
