Description

Delicious and healthy Spinach Chicken Burgers made with ground chicken, fresh spinach, and flavorful seasonings. Perfectly baked for a juicy, tender texture, these burgers are a great way to add greens and protein to your meal. Serve them with a fresh salad or in a bun with your favorite toppings for a nutritious and satisfying dish.

Ingredients

Spinach Chicken Burgers

  • 1-1.2 lbs ground chicken
  • 1 cup frozen spinach (thawed and liquid drained)
  • 1/2 cup unseasoned breadcrumbs
  • 1 shallot (finely diced)
  • 1 egg
  • 1 tbsp dijon mustard
  • 1 tsp garlic powder
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1/2 tsp black pepper
  • Olive oil (for mixing and drizzling)
  • Lime or lemon juice (to top)

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven: Preheat your oven to 400°F (204°C) to prepare for baking the burgers.
  2. Prepare the baking sheet: Line a sheet pan with parchment paper and drizzle some olive oil over it to prevent sticking and add flavor.
  3. Mix ingredients: In a large bowl, combine the ground chicken, thawed and drained spinach, unseasoned breadcrumbs, finely diced shallot, egg, Dijon mustard, garlic powder, salt, and black pepper. Mix well with your hands until all ingredients are evenly incorporated.
  4. Form the patties: With oiled hands, shape the mixture into 6 equal-sized burger patties. Place the patties onto the prepared baking sheet, then drizzle each one with additional olive oil to keep them moist while baking.
  5. Bake the burgers: Bake the patties at 400°F for about 18 minutes, flipping them halfway through to ensure even cooking.
  6. Broil for browning: At the end of baking, set the oven to broil and broil the burgers for 2 minutes to brown and crisp the top.
  7. Serve: Remove from oven and serve immediately. Top with lime or lemon juice and enjoy with a fresh salad or in a bun with your favorite burger toppings.

Notes

  • Ensure the frozen spinach is thoroughly thawed and excess water pressed out to prevent soggy burgers.
  • Oiling your hands when shaping patties prevents sticking and helps form nice, even burgers.
  • Flipping the burgers halfway during baking helps cook them evenly on both sides.
  • Broiling at the end allows the burgers to develop a nice browned crust without drying them out.
  • These burgers can be served gluten free if you substitute breadcrumbs with gluten-free alternatives.
