Description

This Slow Cooker Honey Sriracha Chicken is a flavorful and easy-to-make dish combining the sweetness of honey with the spicy kick of sriracha. Slow-cooked for tender, juicy chicken breast coated in a deliciously thickened sauce, it’s perfect for a quick weeknight meal served over white rice and garnished with sesame seeds and green onions.

Ingredients

Sauce Ingredients

  • ¼ cup soy sauce
  • ½ cup honey
  • ½ cup sriracha sauce

Main Ingredients

  • 1.5 lbs. boneless skinless chicken breast
  • 2 teaspoons corn starch
  • 2 teaspoons white sesame seeds
  • 2 green onions, minced

Instructions

  1. Prepare the Sauce: In a slow cooker, add the soy sauce, honey, and sriracha. Whisk these ingredients together until fully combined to create the sauce base.
  2. Add and Coat Chicken: Place the boneless skinless chicken breasts into the slow cooker and toss them well to coat with the sauce mixture evenly.
  3. Cook the Chicken: Cook the chicken on low for 2-3 hours or high for 4-6 hours until the internal temperature reaches 165ºF, ensuring the chicken is fully cooked and tender.
  4. Remove Chicken and Thicken Sauce: Once cooked, remove the chicken from the slow cooker and set it aside. Stir the corn starch into the sauce in the slow cooker, whisking thoroughly. Cover and set the slow cooker to high, allowing the sauce to thicken and coat the back of a spoon.
  5. Dice Chicken and Combine: Cut the cooked chicken into ½-inch cubes and return it to the thickened sauce in the slow cooker. Toss well to coat each piece with the flavorful sauce.
  6. Serve: Serve the honey sriracha chicken over steamed white rice. Garnish with white sesame seeds and minced green onions for added texture and freshness.

Notes

  • Adjust the amount of sriracha to suit your preferred spice level.
  • Use chicken thighs instead of breasts for a juicier texture if desired.
  • For a gluten-free version, use tamari or gluten-free soy sauce.
  • Be sure to cook the chicken to at least 165ºF for food safety.
  • The sauce thickens as it heats with corn starch; ensure to whisk it well to avoid lumps.
