Description

This Lemon Cream Cheese Dump Cake is a simple and delicious dessert perfect for lemon lovers. Featuring a tangy lemon pie filling layered with creamy white chocolate chips and cream cheese, all topped with a zesty lemon cake mix and buttery slices baked to golden perfection, this cake is a delightful treat that requires minimal effort and yields a moist, flavorful result.

Ingredients

Filling & Mix

  • 1 can (16 ounces) lemon pie filling
  • 1 cup white chocolate chips
  • 4 ounces cream cheese, cubed
  • 1 box (15.25 ounces) lemon cake mix
  • ½ cup unsalted butter, thinly sliced

Instructions

  1. Preheat and Prepare Skillet. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a 12-inch skillet thoroughly to prevent sticking. Alternatively, a greased 9x9 or 9x13-inch baking dish can be used.
  2. Add Lemon Pie Filling. Spread the entire can of lemon pie filling evenly in the bottom of the prepared skillet or baking dish.
  3. Sprinkle White Chocolate Chips. Evenly distribute the white chocolate chips over the lemon pie filling, ensuring they are spread out for balance in every bite.
  4. Add Cubed Cream Cheese. Scatter the cubed cream cheese evenly over the layer of white chocolate chips and pie filling. This will add a creamy, tangy contrast to the sweet filling.
  5. Cover with Cake Mix. Sprinkle the lemon cake mix evenly over the top of all the fillings. Make sure to cover as much filling as possible to form the cake’s crust.
  6. Distribute Butter Slices. Slice the unsalted butter into about 16 small pads and place them evenly distributed over the top of the cake mix layer. This will melt during baking and provide a rich, golden crust.
  7. Bake the Cake. Bake the assembled cake in the preheated oven for 1 hour or until the topping is golden brown and the lemon pie filling is bubbly.
  8. Cool and Serve. Remove the cake from the oven and allow it to cool for at least 10 minutes before slicing and serving. This resting period helps the filling to set slightly for cleaner slices.

Notes

  • Use a 12-inch skillet or similar-sized baking dish for even baking and best results.
  • Do not stir the layers; dumping and layering the ingredients as described is key to the classic dump cake texture.
  • For a dairy-free version, substitute cream cheese and butter with vegan alternatives.
  • Serve with a scoop of vanilla ice cream or whipped cream for an extra indulgent dessert.
  • Leftovers can be refrigerated and gently warmed before serving.
