Description

These festive Irish Cream Oreos are a delightful no-bake treat combining crushed Oreo cookies with cream cheese and a splash of Irish cream liqueur. Coated in vibrant green candy melts and adorned with colorful sprinkles, these truffles are perfect for St. Patrick's Day or any celebration needing a sweet, indulgent bite.

Ingredients

Oreo Truffle Mixture

  • 1 package (14.3 oz) Oreo cookies (about 36 cookies)
  • 8 oz cream cheese, softened
  • 1-2 tsp Irish cream liqueur (like Baileys) - optional, or substitute with 1 tsp vanilla extract for non-alcoholic version

Coating and Decoration

  • 12 oz green candy melts (or white chocolate with green food coloring)
  • Assorted green, white, and orange sprinkles for decoration

Instructions

  1. Make the Oreo Truffle Mixture: Crush the Oreo cookies into fine crumbs using a food processor or place them in a ziplock bag and crush with a rolling pin. In a large mixing bowl, combine the Oreo crumbs with softened cream cheese and mix until a sticky dough forms. Add Irish cream liqueur now if using, and mix well.
  2. Chill the Mixture: Cover the bowl and refrigerate the truffle mixture for about 30 minutes to firm up, making it easier to handle.
  3. Shape the Truffles: Scoop about one tablespoon of the chilled mixture and roll into small balls between your palms. Place each ball onto a parchment-lined baking sheet. Repeat until all mixture is used.
  4. Chill Again: Refrigerate or freeze the truffle balls for 15-20 minutes to help them hold their shape during coating.
  5. Melt the Candy Coating: Melt the green candy melts in a microwave-safe bowl following package instructions. Stir until smooth. If using white chocolate, add green food coloring until the desired color is achieved.
  6. Dip the Truffles: Remove the balls from the fridge and dip each one into the melted candy coating using a fork or dipping tool, ensuring full coverage. Tap off excess coating and return the truffles to the parchment paper.
  7. Add the Sprinkles: While the coating is still wet, sprinkle green, white, and orange sprinkles on top for decoration and a festive touch.
  8. Let Them Set: Allow the truffles to set at room temperature or refrigerate until the chocolate hardens completely.

Notes

  • For a non-alcoholic version, substitute Irish cream liqueur with vanilla extract.
  • You can use white chocolate with green food coloring if green candy melts are unavailable.
  • Store truffles in an airtight container in the refrigerator to maintain freshness.
  • Allow the candy coating to fully set before storing to avoid sticking.
  • These truffles make a great gift or party favor for St. Patrick's Day celebrations.
