Description

This Hot Honey Brussels Sprouts recipe features crispy roasted Brussels sprouts coated in a sweet and spicy honey glaze, making a perfect side dish or snack that balances smoky heat with natural sweetness.

Ingredients

Brussels Sprouts

  • 1 pound Brussels sprouts, trimmed and halved

Honey Glaze

  • 3 tablespoons olive oil
  • 2 tablespoons honey
  • 1 1/2 teaspoons red pepper flakes
  • 1/2 teaspoon kosher salt
  • Freshly ground black pepper, to taste

Instructions

  1. Preheat Oven: Arrange a rack in the middle of the oven and heat the oven to 425°F (220°C). Place a baking sheet in the oven while it heats to ensure it is hot when you add the Brussels sprouts.
  2. Prepare Brussels Sprouts: Trim the Brussels sprouts by removing the stem ends and any yellowed outer leaves, then cut them in half lengthwise.
  3. Make Honey Glaze and Toss: In a large bowl, combine the olive oil, honey, and red pepper flakes. Add the Brussels sprouts to the bowl along with kosher salt and freshly ground black pepper. Toss everything together until the Brussels sprouts are evenly coated with the glaze and spices.
  4. Roasting - First Side: Carefully remove the hot baking sheet from the oven and arrange the Brussels sprouts cut side down on it. Roast for 15 minutes to develop a crispy, caramelized surface.
  5. Roasting - Flip and Finish: After 15 minutes, flip the Brussels sprouts over and continue roasting for an additional 10 to 15 minutes until they are crispy on the outside and tender inside.

Notes

  • For extra crispiness, ensure the Brussels sprouts are spaced out on the baking sheet without overcrowding.
  • If you prefer less heat, reduce the amount of red pepper flakes or omit them entirely.
  • The honey glaze can be adjusted to taste for more sweetness or spice.
  • Leftovers can be stored in an airtight container and reheated in the oven to maintain crispiness.
