Description
Honey Garlic Chicken Kabobs are a flavorful and juicy grilled dish featuring tender chicken breasts marinated in a sweet and savory honey garlic sauce. Combined with colorful bell peppers and onions, these kabobs make a perfect crowd-pleasing meal for any barbecue or family dinner.
Ingredients
Chicken Marinade
- 5-6 boneless, skinless chicken breasts, cut into 1 inch cubes
- 1/4 cup vegetable oil
- 1/3 cup honey
- 1/3 cup soy sauce
- 1/4 tsp ground black pepper
- 2 tbsp garlic, minced
Vegetables
- 2 large onions, cut into 2 inch pieces
- 4 sweet bell peppers, cut into 2 inch pieces
- skewers
Instructions
- Prepare the marinade: In a large bowl, combine vegetable oil, honey, soy sauce, minced garlic, and ground black pepper. Stir well until all ingredients are evenly mixed.
- Marinate the chicken: Add the cubed chicken breasts to the marinade, ensuring all pieces are fully submerged. Cover the bowl and refrigerate for at least two hours to allow the flavors to penetrate the meat. Longer marinating times will intensify the taste.
- Preheat the grill: When ready to cook, preheat your grill to high heat to ensure a nice sear and even cooking.
- Prepare the skewers: Remove the chicken from the marinade and discard the leftover liquid. Thread the chicken cubes alternating with pieces of onion and bell peppers onto the skewers, creating a colorful arrangement.
- Oil the grill grates: Lightly brush or spray oil onto the grill grates to prevent sticking during cooking.
- Grill the kabobs: Place the skewers onto the hot grill and cook for 12 to 15 minutes, turning occasionally. Cook until the chicken juices run clear and the chicken is no longer pink inside.
- Serve: Remove the kabobs from the grill and serve hot, either directly off the skewers or transferred to plates for easier eating.
Notes
- Marinating the chicken overnight will yield the best flavor and tenderness.
- Use wooden skewers soaked in water for at least 30 minutes before grilling to prevent burning.
- Feel free to customize the vegetables with zucchini, mushrooms, or cherry tomatoes.
- Check internal temperature of chicken to ensure it reaches 165°F (74°C) for safety.
- These kabobs can also be cooked in a grill pan on the stovetop if a grill is unavailable.
