Description
This creamy and healthy guacamole recipe combines ripe avocado with low-fat cottage cheese for a protein-rich twist on the classic Mexican dip. Ready in just 5 minutes, it’s perfect as a quick snack or appetizer with a tangy lime flavor and hints of garlic and red onion.
Ingredients
Guacamole With Cottage Cheese Ingredients
- 1 large avocado (ripe)
- ¼ cup low fat cottage cheese
- ¼ lime (juiced)
- 2 Tbsp finely diced red onion
- 1 garlic clove (minced)
- ¼ tsp salt
- Black pepper (to taste)
Instructions
- Prepare the avocado: Scoop the flesh from your ripe avocado into a medium bowl. Use the back of a fork to mash the avocado until it is mostly smooth, creating a creamy base for the guacamole.
- Mix the ingredients: Add the low-fat cottage cheese, fresh lime juice, finely diced red onion, minced garlic, salt, and black pepper to the mashed avocado. Stir everything together until the mixture is well combined and smooth.
- Adjust seasoning: Taste your guacamole and adjust the salt or lime juice according to your preference to enhance the flavors. Serve immediately or chill briefly before serving.
Notes
- Use ripe avocado for the creamiest texture and best flavor.
- Low-fat cottage cheese adds protein and creaminess while keeping the recipe light.
- Adjust garlic and onion quantities based on your taste preferences.
- This guacamole is best eaten fresh but can be stored in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 1 day.
- Serve with tortilla chips, fresh vegetables, or as a topping for tacos and salads.
