Ingredients

Wet Ingredients

  • 1/2 cup Butter, softened
  • 1 cup Granulated Sugar
  • 1 Large Egg
  • 1 teaspoon Cotton Candy Flavoring Extract
  • 1 teaspoon Vanilla Extract

Dry Ingredients

  • 1 1/2 cups Flour
  • 1 teaspoon Baking Powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon Baking Soda
  • 1/2 teaspoon Salt

Coloring

  • 2-3 drops Pink Food Coloring
  • 2-3 drops Blue Food Coloring

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven: Preheat your oven to 375℉ (190℃) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper to prevent sticking and ensure even baking.
  2. Cream butter and sugar: In a mixing bowl, cream together the softened butter and granulated sugar until the mixture is soft, light, and fluffy, which helps create a tender cookie texture.
  3. Add egg and extracts: Stir in the large egg, cotton candy flavoring extract, and vanilla extract until fully combined, as these contribute moistness and the signature cotton candy flavor.
  4. Incorporate dry ingredients: Add the flour, baking powder, baking soda, and salt to the wet mixture. Stir gently until just combined to form a smooth cookie dough. Avoid over-mixing to keep cookies tender.
  5. Divide and color dough: Split the dough evenly into two separate bowls. Add 2-3 drops of blue food coloring to one bowl and stir until the dough is evenly tinted. Repeat with pink food coloring in the other bowl to achieve two distinct colored doughs.
  6. Form cookie dough balls: Using a cookie scoop, carefully fill half of the scoop with blue dough and the other half with pink dough, then place each combined scoop onto the prepared baking sheet, spacing them 2-3 inches apart. Limit to a maximum of 6 cookies per tray to allow room for spreading.
  7. Bake the cookies: Bake the cookies in the preheated oven for about 12 minutes, until edges are set and the centers remain soft.
  8. Cool and serve: Allow the cookies to cool slightly on the baking sheet before transferring to a wire rack or serving plate. Enjoy their soft texture and cotton candy flavor at your gathering.

Notes

  • Store leftovers in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 4-5 days to maintain freshness and softness.
  • For best results, do not overcrowd the baking tray as cookies expand during baking.
  • If you want a more intense cotton candy flavor, add a few drops more of cotton candy extract according to taste.
