Description

A cozy and aromatic French Vanilla Cappuccino combining freshly brewed espresso with vanilla, nutmeg, and lightly sweetened brown sugar, topped with steamed and frothed milk for a creamy, indulgent coffee treat.

Ingredients

Espresso Mixture

  • 2 ounces espresso (freshly brewed)
  • 1 teaspoon light brown sugar (or sweetener of choice)
  • 1 teaspoon pure vanilla extract
  • Pinch fresh ground nutmeg (about 1/16th teaspoon)

Milk

  • 1/2 cup milk (dairy or non-dairy)

Instructions

  1. Mix espresso base: In a large mug, combine the freshly brewed espresso, light brown sugar, pure vanilla extract, and a pinch of fresh ground nutmeg. Stir thoroughly until the brown sugar is fully dissolved, creating a flavored espresso base.
  2. Heat the milk: Warm the milk either in the microwave or on the stove in a small pot until it begins to steam. If using dairy milk, heat between 139-149 °F (55-65 °C); for plant-based milk, heat up to 150 °F (65 °C).
  3. Froth the milk: Froth the heated milk using a milk frother, whisk, or other frothing tool until it doubles in size and a thick foam layer forms on top.
  4. Assemble the cappuccino: Pour the steamed milk and its foam gently over the espresso mixture in the mug. Optionally garnish with a light sprinkle of cinnamon or additional nutmeg to enhance aroma and flavor.
  5. Serve and enjoy: Sip immediately while warm to enjoy the creamy texture and aromatic blend of vanilla and nutmeg in your cappuccino.

Notes

  • You can substitute light brown sugar with any sweetener of choice to adjust sweetness to your preference.
  • Using freshly brewed espresso ensures a robust flavor base for the cappuccino.
  • Non-dairy milks like almond, oat, or soy can be used, but check that they froth well for best results.
  • Be careful not to overheat the milk to avoid burning or altering flavor; steam temperature ranges provided ensure optimal texture.
  • Garnishing is optional but adds a lovely aroma and aesthetic appeal to your drink.
