Description

These Dubai Chocolate Stuffed Dates are a luxurious and healthy dessert combining the natural sweetness of Medjool dates with a crispy kataifi pistachio filling and a rich drizzle of dark chocolate. Perfect for Ramadan treats, gifts, or an elegant snack, this recipe balances creamy textures with crunchy and chocolaty elements.

Ingredients

Filling

  • 1 cup shredded phyllo dough (kataifi), chopped
  • 1 tablespoon butter
  • 1/2 cup pistachio cream

Date Assembly

  • 12 Medjool dates, pitted
  • 1 cup dark chocolate chips or chocolate of choice
  • Crushed pistachios, for topping

Instructions

  1. Prepare Pistachio Filling: Heat a large heavy-duty pan over medium heat. Add the chopped kataifi and butter, cooking while stirring occasionally until the kataifi is golden brown and crispy. Transfer the toasted kataifi to a medium mixing bowl. Add the pistachio cream and gently mix until combined to create the filling.
  2. Melt Chocolate: Melt the chocolate chips in the microwave in 30-second increments, stirring gently between intervals until completely melted and smooth. Alternatively, melt the chocolate over a double boiler on the stovetop.
  3. Stuff the Dates: Place the pitted dates on a parchment-lined sheet pan. Using a teaspoon, fill each date with about 1 teaspoon of the pistachio mixture. Drizzle each stuffed date generously with the melted chocolate and finish with a light sprinkle of crushed pistachios on top.
  4. Set and Chill: Transfer the prepared dates to the refrigerator and let them chill for at least 15 minutes to allow the chocolate to set and flavors to meld before serving.

Notes

  • Use Medjool dates for the best natural sweetness and soft texture.
  • Ensure the kataifi is chopped finely to toast evenly and create a crispy texture.
  • Substitute pistachio cream with almond or hazelnut cream if preferred.
  • Melt chocolate carefully to avoid burning; stirring frequently helps achieve smooth consistency.
  • Store leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 5 days.
