Description

These refreshing Cucumber Cream Cheese Canapés are a quick and elegant appetizer perfect for parties or casual gatherings. Crisp cucumber slices topped with a creamy, dill-infused cream cheese blend create a light, flavorful bite that's both easy to prepare and visually appealing.

Ingredients

Vegetables

  • 1 large English cucumber (sliced 1/4-inch thick; about 48 slices)

Cream Cheese Spread

  • 8 ounces cream cheese (softened at room temperature)
  • 2 tablespoons mayonnaise
  • 1 tablespoon chopped fresh dill (plus more for garnish)
  • 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon onion powder (finely minced or grated)
  • 1/4 teaspoon kosher salt (plus more to taste)
  • Pinch freshly ground black pepper (plus more to taste)

Instructions

  1. Prepare the cucumber slices: Wash and slice the large English cucumber into 1/4-inch thick rounds. Arrange the slices neatly on a serving platter to create the base for the canapés.
  2. Make the cream cheese mixture: In a mixing bowl, combine the softened cream cheese, mayonnaise, chopped fresh dill, garlic powder, onion powder, kosher salt, and freshly ground black pepper. Mix thoroughly with a fork if the cream cheese is soft; otherwise, use the beaters on a hand mixer to achieve a smooth, well-blended spread.
  3. Pipe the cream cheese onto cucumber slices: Transfer the cream cheese mixture into a piping bag fitted with your preferred tip (a star tip works beautifully). Pipe decorative dollops of the cream cheese mixture onto each cucumber slice, giving each canapé a uniform and attractive appearance.
  4. Garnish and serve: Finish by garnishing each canapé with a small sprig of fresh dill for a burst of color and fresh flavor. Serve immediately to preserve the crispness of the cucumber slices and enjoy this fresh appetizer.

Notes

  • Use an English cucumber for fewer seeds and a milder taste.
  • Make sure the cream cheese is softened for easier mixing and piping.
  • This recipe can be made ahead of time; prepare the cream cheese mixture and slice cucumbers separately, then assemble just before serving to keep cucumbers crisp.
  • For a low-fat option, substitute regular cream cheese and mayonnaise with light versions.
  • Adjust seasoning to taste, adding more dill or spices if preferred.
