Description

These Churro Bites are a delightful and easy-to-make treat that you can prepare using either an air fryer or an oven. Made with simple puff pastry and coated in a cinnamon-sugar mixture, they offer a crispy, golden exterior and a light, flaky interior. Perfect as a snack or dessert, they pair wonderfully with caramel or chocolate dipping sauces for an extra indulgent touch.

Ingredients

Main Ingredients

  • 1 sheet frozen puff pastry
  • 1/2 cup sugar
  • 1 1/2 teaspoons ground cinnamon
  • Caramel and/or chocolate dipping sauce (optional)

Instructions

  1. Soften Puff Pastry: Let the puff pastry set at room temperature for 10-15 minutes until it is pliable enough to unfold without tearing.
  2. Cut Pastry into Squares: Lay the puff pastry flat on a clean surface and cut it into 144 small squares by slicing it into 12 strips vertically and 12 strips horizontally.
  3. Prepare Cinnamon-Sugar Mixture: In a medium-sized bowl, mix together the sugar and ground cinnamon until well combined; set aside.
  4. Air Fry the Pastry Squares (if using Air Fryer): Place some puff pastry squares on the air fryer rack without overlapping. Depending on your air fryer's size, you may need multiple batches. Cook at 375°F for 4 minutes, then shake the basket gently to redistribute the pieces. Continue air frying for an additional 1-2 minutes or until they are golden brown.
  5. Bake the Pastry Squares (if using Oven): Arrange the puff pastry squares in a single layer on a parchment paper or silicone baking mat lined baking sheet. Bake in a preheated oven at 400°F for 15 minutes, or until the tops turn golden brown.
  6. Coat with Cinnamon-Sugar: Transfer the cooked pastry squares into the bowl with the cinnamon-sugar mixture. Gently toss them until all pieces are evenly coated.
  7. Serve: Serve warm churro bites with caramel or chocolate dipping sauces if desired for added sweetness and flavor.

Notes

  • Make sure the puff pastry is not too cold when cutting to prevent cracking.
  • You can prepare the cinnamon sugar ahead of time for convenience.
  • Adjust cooking time slightly depending on your air fryer or oven model for optimal browning.
  • Serve immediately for the best crispy texture.
  • These bites are great for parties or quick desserts.
