Description
A delicious and nutritious Chocolate Protein Cake that combines the richness of cocoa with the power of protein powder and wholesome oat flour, perfect for a healthy dessert or post-workout treat.
Ingredients
Wet Ingredients
- 1 egg
- ½ cup (120 g) Greek yogurt (nonfat)
- ¼ to ¾ cup (60 to 180 ml) milk of choice
- Sweetener of choice (to taste, if using unflavored protein powder)
Dry Ingredients
- ½ cup (50 g) oat flour (or preferred flour)
- ½ cup (50 g) protein powder (see notes*)
- ¼ cup (20 g) cocoa powder
- ¾ tsp baking powder
Instructions
- Heat oven: Preheat the oven to 175ºC (350°F) and line a 20 cm (7.8 inches) cake mold with parchment paper to prevent sticking.
- Mix wet ingredients: In a large mixing bowl, beat the egg together with the nonfat Greek yogurt until the mixture is smooth and well combined.
- Add dry ingredients: Gradually add the oat flour, protein powder, cocoa powder, and baking powder to the wet mixture and stir thoroughly to incorporate all ingredients.
- Add milk: Start mixing the batter while slowly adding the milk. The quantity of milk depends on the protein powder used; add enough to create a smooth, pourable cake batter.
- Bake: Pour the batter into the prepared cake mold and bake in the preheated oven for 20 to 25 minutes. Once baked, allow the cake to cool before serving to set the texture.
Notes
- Adjust the amount of milk according to the protein powder used to achieve the correct batter consistency.
- If using unflavored protein powder, add a sweetener to taste to enhance the flavor.
- Oat flour can be substituted with other preferred flours if desired.
- Use parchment paper in the cake mold to avoid sticking and ensure easy removal.
