Description

Boba Milk Tea is a delicious and refreshing Taiwanese bubble tea featuring chewy tapioca pearls combined with sweetened milk and brewed tea. This easy-to-make drink is perfect for cooling down and enjoying a unique texture with every sip.

Ingredients

Tea Base

  • 2 cups Black or green tea, brewed and chilled

Milk Mixture

  • ½ cup Milk (whole milk, almond milk, or oat milk)
  • 2 tbsp Sweetener (sugar, honey, or condensed milk)

Tapioca Pearls

  • ½ cup Tapioca pearls
  • 4 cups Water (for boiling pearls)
  • 2 tbsp Brown sugar (for syrup)

Instructions

  1. Brew the Tea: Brew 2 cups of strong black or green tea. Allow it to cool to room temperature before chilling it in the refrigerator to ensure a refreshing base.
  2. Cook the Tapioca Pearls: Bring 4 cups of water to a boil in a medium saucepan. Add the tapioca pearls and stir gently to prevent them from sticking together. Simmer for 15-20 minutes until they become soft and chewy. Drain the pearls using a strainer, then immediately soak them in a brown sugar syrup prepared with the 2 tablespoons of brown sugar to add sweetness and prevent sticking.
  3. Assemble the Drink: In a serving glass, add about 2 tablespoons of the cooked tapioca pearls. Pour in ½ cup of milk followed by ½ cup of the chilled brewed tea. Add sweetener according to your taste preference and fill the glass with ice to keep the drink cool. Stir well to combine all the flavors evenly.
  4. Serve: Insert a wide boba straw and enjoy your homemade refreshing boba milk tea immediately for the best experience.

Notes

  • Adjust the sweetness by adding more or less sugar depending on your taste.
  • Try experimenting with different tea flavors such as jasmine or oolong to vary the flavor profile.
  • For a healthier option, use unsweetened tea and low-fat or plant-based milk alternatives.
  • Store any leftover cooked tapioca pearls soaked in syrup in an airtight container for up to 24 hours for future use.
