Description
A refreshing and vibrant Blueberry Lemonade that combines tart lemon juice with sweet blueberries for a perfect summer beverage. This recipe uses simple ingredients blended together and chilled, making it easy to prepare and enjoy a pulp-free or pulpy lemonade according to your preference.
Ingredients
Blueberry Lemonade Ingredients
- 3/4 cup fresh lemon juice (from 5-6 large lemons)
- 3/4 cup sugar (can substitute honey - start with 1/2 cup and then add more if desired)
- 1 cup blueberries (fresh or frozen)
- 1 cup hot water
- 3 cups cold water
- Ice, as needed
Instructions
- Blend Ingredients: In a blender, combine the fresh lemon juice, sugar, blueberries, and hot water. Blend until the blueberries are fully pureed and the sugar is completely dissolved, creating a smooth mixture. For a pulp-free lemonade, pour the blended mixture through a fine-mesh strainer into a pitcher to remove seeds and pulp.
- Add Cold Water: Pour 3 cups of cold water into the pitcher with the lemon and blueberry mixture. Stir gently to combine all the ingredients evenly.
- Chill: Place the pitcher in the refrigerator and chill the lemonade for at least one hour. This allows the flavors to meld and the drink to become refreshingly cold.
- Serve: When ready to serve, fill glasses with ice and pour the chilled blueberry lemonade over the ice. Enjoy immediately for a cool and fruity refreshment.
Notes
- You can substitute sugar with honey for a natural sweetener, starting with 1/2 cup and adjusting to taste.
- Use fresh or frozen blueberries depending on availability.
- Straining the lemonade is optional based on your preference for texture.
- Adjust the sweetness or tartness by varying the amount of sugar or lemon juice according to your taste.
- For a sparkling variation, replace some or all of the cold water with sparkling water just before serving.
