Description

This Beef and Broccoli Ramen Stir Fry is a delightful fusion of the classic Chinese beef and broccoli stir fry with tender ramen noodles. Ready in just 30 minutes, this easy and flavorful main course combines savory sliced sirloin steak, crisp-tender broccoli, and a rich, tangy homemade sauce. Ideal for a weeknight dinner, the dish is garnished with toasted sesame seeds for an added nutty crunch.

Ingredients

For the Sauce

  • 1/4 cup low-sodium soy sauce
  • 1 tablespoon cornstarch
  • 1/3 cup beef broth
  • 2 tablespoons honey
  • 2 tablespoons hoisin sauce
  • 1 tablespoon rice vinegar
  • 1 tablespoon sesame oil
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1/2 tablespoon grated ginger
  • 1/8 teaspoon cracked red pepper flakes

For the Stir Fry

  • 2 (3 ounce) packages ramen noodles, seasoning packets discarded
  • 1 teaspoon sesame oil
  • 2 tablespoons extra-virgin olive oil, divided
  • 1 pound sirloin steak, trimmed of fat and sliced into 1 1/2-inch strips (about 1/4-inch thickness)
  • 1/2 teaspoon kosher salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground black pepper
  • 3 cups fresh broccoli florets
  • 1/2 cup water
  • Sesame seeds, for garnish

Instructions

  1. Make the sauce: In a medium bowl, whisk together the soy sauce and cornstarch until smooth with no lumps. Add beef broth, honey, hoisin sauce, rice vinegar, sesame oil, minced garlic, grated ginger, and cracked red pepper flakes. Whisk well to combine and set aside.
  2. Cook the ramen noodles: Bring a medium pot of water to a boil. Add ramen noodles and cook for 2-3 minutes until just tender. Drain noodles and rinse under cold water to stop further cooking. Drizzle with 1 teaspoon sesame oil and toss gently to prevent sticking.
  3. Cook the steak: Heat 1 tablespoon olive oil in a large nonstick skillet over medium-high heat until hot. Season sirloin strips with kosher salt and ground black pepper. Add steak to the skillet in a single layer and cook without moving for about 3 minutes to develop a brown crust. Stir and continue cooking for 2 more minutes until cooked through. Remove steak and drain excess grease from skillet.
  4. Steam the broccoli: Add remaining 1 tablespoon olive oil to the skillet, then add broccoli florets. Pour in 1/2 cup water and cover skillet. Steam broccoli for about 2 minutes until bright green and fork-tender but still crisp. Remove cover.
  5. Combine and finish stir fry: Return cooked steak to the skillet, add drained ramen noodles, and stir to combine. Give the prepared sauce a quick stir and pour it evenly over the skillet ingredients. Using tongs, toss everything together and cook for another 1-2 minutes, allowing the sauce to thicken slightly and coat all the ingredients thoroughly.
  6. Serve: Serve the beef and broccoli ramen stir fry hot immediately, garnished with a sprinkle of sesame seeds for added texture and flavor.

Notes

  • To prevent noodles from sticking, be sure to toss them with sesame oil after rinsing.
  • For extra flavor, marinate the steak strips briefly in half the soy sauce before cooking.
  • You can substitute sirloin steak with flank steak or ribeye based on preference.
  • If you prefer spicier, add more red pepper flakes or a splash of chili garlic sauce.
  • Use fresh broccoli florets for best texture; frozen broccoli will release more water and become mushy.
