Ingredients
Main Ingredients
- 3 hot dogs
- 3 hot dog buns
- 1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
- ½ cup tomato sauce
- ¼ cup sliced olives
Additional Toppings
- Ketchup (for drizzling)
- Yellow mustard (for drizzling)
- Diced onions (optional)
- Diced tomatoes (optional)
- Sauerkraut (optional)
- Relish (optional)
- Pickles (optional)
- Sliced jalapeno (optional)
Instructions
- Preheat the Air Fryer: Set your air fryer to 400°F (200°C) and allow it to preheat fully before starting.
- Prepare the Buns: Carefully cut open the hot dog buns lengthwise without cutting all the way through, so they remain hinged.
- Toast the Buns: Place the buns in the air fryer basket and toast for about 2 minutes until they are lightly toasted. Remove and set aside.
- Spread Sauce: Inside each toasted bun, spread approximately 2 tablespoons of tomato sauce evenly.
- Add Cheese: Sprinkle shredded mozzarella cheese over the tomato sauce inside the buns.
- Air Fry the Buns with Cheese: Return the buns to the air fryer and cook for about 3 minutes until the mozzarella is golden and bubbly.
- Add Hot Dogs and Toppings: Place a hot dog inside each cheesy bun. Add more shredded mozzarella cheese on top of the hot dogs, then sprinkle the sliced olives evenly.
- Final Cook: Cook the assembled pizza dogs in the air fryer for an additional 3 minutes or until the cheese on top is melted and slightly golden.
- Remove and Garnish: Take the pizza dogs out of the air fryer. Drizzle with ketchup and yellow mustard as desired, and add any additional toppings like diced onions, tomatoes, pickles, sauerkraut, relish, or jalapenos to your taste.
Notes
- You can customize the toppings to your liking—try adding jalapenos for a spicy kick or sauerkraut for tanginess.
- If your air fryer basket is small, cook the pizza dogs in batches to ensure even cooking.
- For a crispier bun, you can toast it a bit longer before adding sauces and cheese.
- Make sure not to overfill the buns to prevent cheese and toppings from spilling out during cooking.
- Use quality mozzarella cheese for the best melt and flavor.
