- 1/4 cup chopped fresh cilantro
- 1/4 cup salsa
- 1 ½ tablespoons fresh lime juice
- 1/4 teaspoon garlic salt
- Ground black pepper to taste
Sour Cream Layer
- 1 (8 ounce) container sour cream
- 1 (1 ounce) package taco seasoning mix
Bean Layer
- 1 (16 ounce) can refried beans
Veggie and Cheese Toppings
- 4 roma (plum) tomatoes, diced
- 1 bunch green onions, finely chopped
- 2 cups shredded Mexican-style cheese blend
- 1 (2.25 ounce) can black olives - drained and finely chopped
Instructions
- Gather Ingredients: Assemble all the necessary ingredients to ensure smooth preparation of the dip.
- Prepare Guacamole: In a medium bowl, mash the diced avocados to your desired consistency. Stir in chopped cilantro, salsa, fresh lime juice, garlic salt, and ground black pepper until well combined. Set this guacamole mixture aside.
- Mix Sour Cream Layer: In a separate small bowl, blend the sour cream with the taco seasoning mix until evenly combined. This will add a spicy, creamy layer to the dip. Set aside.
- Assemble Dip Layers: Spread the refried beans evenly in the bottom of a 9x13-inch dish or on a large serving platter. Spoon and spread the seasoned sour cream mixture over the beans, followed by the guacamole layer. Then, layer the diced tomatoes, chopped green onions, shredded Mexican-style cheese, and chopped black olives on top in that order.
- Serve: Once layered, serve the 7-layer dip immediately with tortilla chips for dipping and enjoy this vibrant, flavorful appetizer.
Notes
- For smoother guacamole, mash the avocados thoroughly but leave some chunks for texture.
- Use fresh lime juice to balance the richness of the guacamole and sour cream.
- Layer ingredients gently but evenly to keep the dip visually appealing.
- This dip can be refrigerated for up to 24 hours; cover tightly to prevent the guacamole from browning.
- Add jalapeños or hot sauce for an extra spicy kick if desired.
