Description
A simple and refreshing 4-ingredient strawberry sorbet made with fresh strawberries, sugar, water, and lemon juice. This easy-to-make frozen dessert requires minimal prep and no special equipment, making it perfect for a cool summer treat.
Ingredients
Syrup
- 1 cup granulated sugar
- 1 cup water
Sorbet
- 3 cups strawberries (fresh or partially thawed)
- 3 tablespoons fresh lemon juice
Instructions
- Boil syrup: Bring the granulated sugar and water to a gentle boil in a medium saucepan, stirring frequently to dissolve the sugar completely.
- Simmer syrup: Reduce the heat to low and let the syrup simmer while stirring occasionally for 2 to 3 minutes. Remove from heat and allow to cool slightly.
- Prepare strawberries: Wash the strawberries thoroughly and remove the stems. Place them in a blender along with the fresh lemon juice.
- Blend strawberries: Puree the strawberries and lemon juice until smooth with no chunks remaining.
- Combine mixtures: Add the cooled sugar syrup to the strawberry puree. Blend briefly on low speed for 15 to 30 seconds to mix thoroughly.
- Freeze: Pour the combined mixture into a metal container or large ice cube trays. Freeze for at least 3 to 4 hours, or until the sorbet is firm.
- Serve: Scoop the sorbet into bowls or cones using an ice cream scooper or spoon and serve immediately.
Notes
- Use ripe, fresh strawberries for the best flavor, though partially thawed frozen strawberries also work well.
- For a smoother texture, strain the strawberry puree before mixing with syrup to remove seeds.
- If you do not have a metal container or ice cube trays, use any freezer-safe container but the freezing time might vary slightly.
- To soften sorbet for serving, let it sit at room temperature for a few minutes before scooping.
- The lemon juice adds brightness and helps preserve the color of the sorbet.
